Orbiting Sea Marble Pendant
Not only is this sea glass marble extremely rare but so is the half moon shaped bottle rim. Both of these sea glass treasures were collected in Puerto Rico. I am certain that the seafoam green bottle rim is from a Bacardi Rum bottle. The outer curve is beautifully frosted and the inner curve still has some glassy luster. The glassy interior is what also makes this piece so interesting. It has two contrasting textures and lends itself to contemplation as it has been in the sea for decades yet the inner curve has barely been touched by the seas abrasive forces.
The sea marble may come from a ships ballast but it was probably lost during a childrens game of marbles. Marbles is still a very popular game on the island and is a favorite recess activity on playgrounds throughout the island.
A single piece of sterling silver wire holds these sea treasures together. The bottom is finished with one of my signature sea spiral details. It is a playful piece with movement as the sea marble can be spun gently on it's axis.
